Customer Success & Adoption

Retention and expansion are where most of a SaaS company's revenue actually lives after year one, yet it's the layer most "AI powered" CS platforms still treat as a health score dashboard. We looked for the same thing we look for everywhere else on this site: can an agent create a task, update a record, or trigger a play on its own, through a scoped and auditable interface, or is the AI just narrating what a CSM should do next?

Some links below are affiliate links: see our full disclosure. Where a vendor has no self serve affiliate program, we link straight to their site with no tracking and say so.
01Gainsight
High: native MCP, real write actions No self serve affiliate link

Customer success & product experience platform: custom / enterprise pricing · gainsight.com

The category leader for enterprise and mid market CS teams running health scores, CTAs, and playbooks, now pushing hard into "AI native" retention workflows via its Atlas AI agent suite. The most substantive, best documented agentic architecture of any vendor in this category.

Agentic angle: A first party MCP connector lets an agent create and update CTAs, Success Plans, Timeline entries, and tasks: real, scoped write access via OAuth, not just a chat panel. Two honest caveats: it can't yet trigger a playbook or launch outreach on its own, and Gainsight's own docs describe a customer facing audit report as a "planned capability," not something shipped yet.

02Vitally
High: native MCP, no write confirmation gate Affiliate program

Customer success platform for PLG & mid market SaaS: custom pricing · vitally.io

A flexible, highly customizable CS platform built for tech touch through high touch motions, popular with product led SaaS teams that want CS workflows wired directly into product usage data.

Agentic angle: An official Vitally MCP server lets an agent create notes, tasks, and custom object records directly. The one governance gap worth flagging: Vitally's own docs note write actions have no built in confirmation prompt ("review before you confirm, especially for customer facing records") worth knowing before you scope an agent's access.

03Planhat
High: native read write MCP No self serve affiliate link

Customer platform (CRM + CS + PSA), custom pricing · planhat.com

A flexible, data centric customer platform spanning CRM, CS, and professional services modules, aimed at teams that want to unify usage, health, and revenue data in one place rather than stitching CS on top of a separate CRM.

Agentic angle: An explicitly read write MCP server: Planhat's own docs describe an agent that can "not only read real time customer context... but also take action: creating tasks, updating records and building documents and dashboards." Governance is described only at a high level, and there's no detailed audit trail documentation for MCP initiated writes yet.

04ChurnZero
Medium: marketing led, unconfirmed in docs Affiliate program

Customer success & digital adoption platform: custom / enterprise pricing · churnzero.com

A CS and product/digital adoption platform built around real time engagement data and in app guidance, aimed at mid market to enterprise teams running renewal and expansion motions.

Agentic angle: ChurnZero has announced "Agentic Essentials" (15+ AI agents said to "run autonomously") plus a "ChurnZero Connect (MCP)" offering governed access inside Claude and ChatGPT. We could only verify this through the press release; ChurnZero's own product page describes the AI mostly in insight/drafting terms ("use it like ChatGPT"), with no technical documentation of write scopes or audit trails. Treat the autonomous execution claim as vendor stated, not independently docs verified.

05Catalyst (Totango)
Limited: API writes, no MCP No affiliate program

Outcome driven customer success: custom / enterprise pricing · totango.com

Catalyst merged into Totango in 2024 and now operates as a product line there, positioned around outcome driven CS ("focus on critical business outcomes, not just adoption") for GTM/CS teams. Evaluate it as a Totango purchase, not an independent product.

Agentic angle: No first party MCP server exists for Catalyst or the merged Totango entity: only third party wrappers. The Catalyst API v1 is GET only, but Totango’s HTTP, Touchpoints and SuccessPlay APIs do accept writes via API key, with no agent specific scoping, confirmation step or audit trail. Verified against vendor documentation, 21 Aug 2026. The product page names a separate "Unison AI" feature with no detail behind it: the documented capability stays at outcome dashboards and recommendations a human still has to act on.
